Allow me to offer a few words by way of personal introduction. I am the only child of George & Denise Dodson and native of Barre, Vermont. I was ordained a priest of Jesus Christ at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Burlington on June 25, 2011, having completed my theological studies at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (The Angelicum) while in residence at the North American College in Rome. Over the last fifteen years my assignments have included the following:
2011-2013: Parochial Vicar of Christ the King Parish & School, Rutland; St. Patrick Parish, Wallingford; Chaplain and Teacher at Mount Saint Joseph Academy
2013-2016: Pastor of St. Michael Parish & School, Brattleboro
2016-2019: Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Northfield & St. Edward the Confessor Parish, Williamstown; & Catholic Chaplain at Norwich University
2019-2026: Pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary-St. Louis Parish, Swanton; Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Burlington
Since receiving the news of this new assignment a few months ago, I have been praying for you daily and looking forward to being with you. It is my fervent hope that we will come to know more truly, love more purely, and serve more virtuously our Lord Jesus Christ with minds, hearts, and souls rooted in an ever-deepening Faith, Hope, and Charity.
Please pray that I may be a good shepherd in the Sacred Heart of The Good Shepherd. May Almighty God bless abundantly this new beginning together.

Father Romanus Igweonu
Parochial VicarI just wanted to tell you that I’m glad to be part of this family, having been a member of the Burlington Diocesan family (across several Parishes) for the past 20 years.
I am the first among my other three siblings, born in Nigeria to Comrade Romanus and Mrs. Christiana Igweonu (a credo Catholic family), evangelized by the missionaries of Irish descent. I was ordained on July 11, 1992, after earning my college degrees in Philosophy and Theology from an affiliate of Urban University, Rome. I earned several advanced degrees in Education here in the United States.
I arrived in Vermont in August 2006 and have served in the following Parishes, Catholic Center at UVM (2006), St. Luke Parish Fairfax and St. Ann Milton(2006 – 2008), Annunciation Parish Ludlow (2008 -2015), St. Bridgid’s and St, Stanislaus Kostka Parishes, West Rutland and St. Dominic Parish, Proctor (2015 – 2017); St. Monica, St. Sylvester and St. Frances Cabrini Parishes, Barre (2017 – 2019), St. John the Baptist Parish, Enosburg Falls, All Saints Parish, Richford, St. Isidore Montegomery, and St. Anthony Sheldon Springs (2021 – 2024), St. Raphael Parish, Poultney, St. John the Baptist (and VSTU), Castleton, Our Lady’s Parish, Fair Haven, and St. Paul’s Orwell (2024 -2026).
I was excited when the news of my assignment to be part of this family reached me given the wonderful opportunities that will come from working with these wonderful and loving parishioners. I have no doubt that we will all work together in faith, love, joy and hope and above all as a heaven bound Parish family.
Our Lord is Good! All the Time.
